gratitude: day 3

Today, I'm grateful for
the dining room.

to you, this may seem like a boring old dining room.
but to me, it signifies much, much more.

thoughtful friends.

all of the furniture in this room was given to us by friends.
friends who were just thinking of us
when they needed to find a home for it.

developing talent.

every day, we hear the piano singing away
as one of the older children
work hard to perfect a piece of music.

eternal goals.

the family portrait that hangs above the buffet
signifies the end of one journey
and the beginning of another, eternal one.
it reminds us of an amazing day
when we were all together
in the House of the Lord.

and lastly, this room signifies

togetherness.

sunday afternoons
gathered around the dining room table.
sometimes it's nice and peaceful
most times its more chaotic.
but
when we eat in this room
it means the meal is special
and memories are in the making.

i'm excited to recover the chair seats
add moulding to the walls and ceiling
and paint it some pretty color

but for now
our ordinary little room
continues to welcome us
nurture, and remind us
of our endless abundance.
