Today, I'm grateful for
our warm, safe home.
we had a gas leak in the house last yesterday.
some new gas lines were installed in the basement.
one wasn't sealed off right.
i walked in the house after being gone last night
and smelled some serious natural gas.
everyone was used to the smell
and didn't notice how strong it was.
jeremy called the gas company
to have someone come check it out.
they told him to open all the doors and windows
and turn out all the lights
while we waited for them to come.
it was around forty outside.
the house got cold real quick!
we all wrapped ourselves in blankets to keep warm.
the gas man showed up looking exactly like a ghostbuster.
he walked around the house with his beeper
to find where the ghosts, i mean gas was coming from.
sure enough his beeper yelled loudly
when he reached the basement and found the new gas lines.
he fixed the line, then left.
sometimes we need reminders.
we are so warm, safe and comfortable.
let us not take this for granted!
today, i'm grateful for this reminder
and also for the realization
that it's time to make our home more "disaster-ready"
in case something happens in the future.
