gratitude: day 8

Today, I'm grateful for:
Bennett

six years ago yesterday
our little family of five

grew by one more.

sweet bennett entered our world.

he was our first baby that didn't have
a mop on his head
and that weighed less than eight pounds.

we called him our little old man.

oh he was such an adorable baby boy.

now bennett is a big kindergarten boy
who still makes our world happy.

we started his big day with our traditional
breakfast in bed.

his order:
blueberry pancakes and yogurt.

(the poor kid has to sleep in a pink room
until the basement is finished.
he's never complained though.)

after his requested chili dinner
he opened his presents

a new piggy bank
and some art supplies.
bennett loves art.

we had a family party this year
since he had a friend one last year.
we went to his favorite place
"jump on it"

look at that beat-red face.
that's when you know its fun.

little sister and little brother loved it, too.

when we got home
it was time for cake and ice cream

and  a little creativity with his new art stuff.

bennett is our creator.
at any moment of the day
if he's not playing with friends
he's creating or inventing.
from space ships

to aircrafts

to secret spy gadgets

to swords

this kid is happy
as long as he has some cardboard, tape and scissors
within reach.

i see him as a future inventor
or maybe even an architect like his dad.

bennett is spirited and stubborn
and lately he's been a bit mouthy
but he's always been
my little snuggle monkey.

i'm so glad i have one
who loves to snuggle.

oh, how grateful i am for my bennett boy.
