Max's "Transforming" Birthday

Max had one awesome birthday on Thursday. It all started with breakfast in bed (crepes at his request--with no fruit. Only syrup and a couple scoops of ice cream!)and presents from the family.

We took the whole Transformers theme to the extreme. (Or at least it was extreme for us.)
When the 10 little boys first got here, we had them line up at the top of the stairs. Jeremy gave them the important instructions that they would be entering Cybertron one at a time, and to wait until the master called their name. Landon used the echo feature on the Karaoke machine to call their names..."Max, please enter Cybertron," and so on.
When they came into Cybertron, they were told to choose their identity out of the big steel bowl. They were given one of the names of the Transformers, and put on a team, either the "Autobots" or the "Decepticons." (For those of you who don't know Transformer language, that means the "good guys and the bad guys.") Because of the camera flash, you can't tell by this picture--but it was all dark, except for the blue christmas lights that were strung all over the ceiling. We hung quilts over the windows to make it extra dark. We also had Transformer Movie music playing real loud, for a little more effect.
After the kids sat in the middle of the floor in their teams, Megatron actually entered the room! This was Jeremy with the Optimus Prime mask on. This mask actually distorts your voice to make it sound like a robot. It was pretty realistic! He had taken it off by the time this photo was taken.
The two teams were then sent on a hunt to find "Cybersticks" (or glow sticks)worth 10 points, "Allspark" cubes (transformer party favors) worth 25 points and gold (choclolate) coins, worth 5 points. The Autobots won!
After a couple more games, we headed upstairs into the light and opened presents. Included in the big haul were 4 new Transformers. I got a kick out of hearing the moms of these kids tell me how excited their little boys were to go and pick out the Transformer that they would give to Max. Of course they all knew which ones he already had, so there were no duplicates. He is now up to 13! He also got some great Star Wars Lego sets and games. What a lucky boy.

Here's the table and the cake before they all came in. Max had a very big role in deciding just how everything would be placed on the cake. The good guys are across from the bad guy.
