Back before Christmas, I (Jeremy) started a bedtime story that has turned into a saga that continues every other night. The kids gather in M.'s room before bed and sit in the dark as I add onto the story, making it up as I go. (In the above photo, it's actually dark, but the camera flash made it bright for a second, as you can see by looking at Max.) It's called "Max the Troll". The story is, as you can probably guess, about a Troll named Max. It follows his adventures in the forest where he lives and then travels to different places on his "Forest Scooter XTI 2000." Along the way he meets different friends. He met "Sadie the Troll" and "Landon the King." When we got started, we decided we needed to draw a picture of Max the Troll so we would know what he looks like. This is Max the Troll!
As the story progresses, so do the pictures, even though they are only really rough sketches. This is Max the Troll's bridge that he must protect from Billy goats. He sits under the bridge in his big easy chair and eats chocolate chip cookies as he waits for someone to cross. Can you see the oven he bakes them in? As soon as he hears someone coming over the bridge, he runs up the stairs, stands at the end of the Bridge and yells, "STOP, in the name of Max the Troll!",(we sing it). If it's any other forest animal than a Billy Goat he lets them pass with a cookie. If it is a Billy Goat he chases them off.
This is one of Max the Trolls' adventures where he and S.the Troll meet L. the King. The castle is located on an island surrounded by water with parahna fish in it. Here you see Max and S. the Trolls walking over the bridge. Look out Harry Potter!

Nice drawings, especially the castle--who's the artist? What a darling childhood memory. I can tell Jeremy is a wonderful dad who takes time out to do simple, yet precious things with his kids.
What a creative fun story! I bet the kids love it. Looks like Jeremy gets Dad of the Year award!
