Labor day morning, Jeremy and I were itching to take the kids on a hike. Unfortunately, the three older kids were not excited about this idea. All they wanted to do on their day off was sleep in. Boring.
So we took the three little’s and headed up the Battle Creek Falls trail.
It’s probably more appropriate to call it a “short walk” than a hike. We didn’t make it too far. Note to selves: If you plan to go longer than a couple hundred yards on your hike, leave the young children home.
Well, at least we got to enjoy nature for a few minutes.
Bennett would have hiked all morning, though. He loves this kind of stuff. He has a huge rock fetish going on right now. He finds rocks everywhere we go and seems to discover the hidden beauty in the most ordinary of rocks.
“MOM, look at how cool this one is!” he says. He has a whole drawer in his dresser all filled with rocks right now.
That’s awesome, bud!
Oh, to be six again.
