Katie

This sweet little one lives in the same city that Hazel lives in. My friend, Kelly who is adopting two little girls from the same city is determined to find her a family.

In the region where Hazel and Kelly's girls and Katie were born, children with Down Syndrome are placed in orphanages.  When they turn 4, they are transferred to institutions for the disabled.  NO child over the age of 4 with disabilities has EVER been adopted from these institutions in this region.  Not domestically or internationally.  They never enter society but are locked up for the rest of their lives.

Their only crime? Being deemed "not perfect" by society.

Finally, the Groves family is the FIRST to adopt from an institution in this region for older children.  When they went over to visit their daughter, they also met her best friend, Katie.  They spent 3 days with Katie and discovered her to be an angel on earth.  Kelly Grove says she's sweet, plays fabulously with the other children, is calm, has a delightful personality and all the children in her group adore her.  She has great motor skills and seems to be fairly high functioning.  (Don't let the tongue in the database photo fool you!)

The Groves cannot imagine her being locked away for the rest of her life!  They are begging for Katie's parents to be found.  Do not be afraid of her age!  If you could meet her you would see nothing to be afraid of.  She is simply a gorgeous little girl.

Could she be your little girl, or do you know someone who would love to have a ray of sunshine in their home? Or could you even drop a few bucks in her grant fund so that it would be easier for someone to rescue her? Let me know if you'd like to learn more about Katie and I will connect you with Kelly!

Here is Katie's page on Reece's Rainbow.
