Well, little miss Hazel. We thought for sure you would be home for your fourth birthday. But you’re still there, and we’re still here, dreaming about you and praying for things to move faster.
We couldn’t let your birthday go by without celebrating, though! Mommy went all out and with the help of Costco’s bakery, made you a Red Velvet Cake and invited some friends over. The Howards, whom we haven’t seen in several years! A funny thing is that Daddy and their dad, James look a lot alike. They were EFY counselors together and many people thought they were brothers!
Dad told our friends all about you and how lucky we are to get to be your family soon. They were so touched by your story.
Then we lit a candle that had your age on it. “FOUR.” Anya blew it out in your honor.
When we think about what the 4th birthday means for all the extra special kids like you in your part of the world, it makes us very sad. You would have had to leave your baby home and go to the institution this month. But we’re so happy that Heavenly Father led us to you right when he did, and that the big people there have made sure that you get to stay in your baby home until we can come get you.
We love you, Hazel girl. We are so, so glad that you had the chance to come to this earth and that you will soon have the chance to let your light SHINE to the world. We are honored to get to help you do this.
Love, your family. YOUR family.
Dad, Mom, Landon, Sadie, Max, Bennett, Anya and Eli. Oh, and Rocky and Chester, too.
