Max had a few friends show up after school. The fridge and pantry were thoroughly searched. To their great dismay, nothing containing sugar would show itself. I offered to make cookies. All at once, they begged, "Can we have a cookie contest, pleeeease?"
"A cookie contest? You mean everyone makes a different batch and someone judges?" I ask hesitantly, already mourning the loss of my sparkling, clean kitchen.
"Yeah! But you don't use recipes. You get all the ingredients out and put them on the counter, then we each mix it all together the way we want and see who's cookies turn out the best."
I had heard about this brave endeavor that Timmy and Nano's mom had taken on with Max at their house in the past. But then, she doesn't have an Eli in the mix. Eight year old triplets, yes. But not an Eli. Uhhh...
"OK. Let's go for it. But instead of you each making your own, let's put you in three teams. Sadie will make her own batch, Max and Nano will be on one team and Timmy and Jaxon on the other.
Sadie gave them little hints, like...only about a half teaspoon of salt, only one egg, probably about a cup of sugar, etc.
Guess what? They were all good. A little on the sweet side...OK, a lot on the sweet side, but tasty! I closed my eyes and took a bite of one cookie from each batch to decide the winner. Timmy and Jaxon won. Not too flat, not too floury, but just right.
Way to go, guys (and gal)!!

Haha, great activity!
I used to do that with Matteo a lot too- not with cookies but with cake, our "Erfinderkuchen" (inventor cake). But unfortunately sometimes the cake turned out to be REALLY disgusting.;) Oh well, our problem; YOUR cookies do look yummy! Good job on that.
Greetings to Max! =)
