Since it's an "odd" birthday for Sadie, we limited our celebrations to family members. Being the social butterfly party-lover that Sadie is, you'd think that would constitute a bummer birthday.
No way. This 11-year-old princess was on cloud nine from sun-up till sundown. She LOVES the little things. And that's what made it so great. Lots of little things.
Breakfast in Bed
The Menu: (Specifically chosen by Sadie and written out the night before)
Fried Egg, overeasy, on a toasted English muffin
Yogurt Parfait with Berries and Granola
O. J.
Spoiled at School
Sadie's BFF, Abbie surprized her with balloons covering her chair at school. She also made sure that everyone knew it was Sadie's birthday, all day. Sadie felt so special.
Lunch Date
What's better than leaving school to go out to lunch? Leaving school with Mom...and eating lunch at Dear Lizzy! The perfect foofy-girl place. We ate delicious sandwiches, then oohed and aaahed at all the gorgeous jewelry, clothes and decor that adorn every square inch of the place. We didn't buy a thing, but Sadie was in heaven!
Dinner
Sadie chose to roast hot dogs in the fire pit for dinner. Hey, we were all over that. Unfortunately it was really cold and windy, so the experience wasn't all we had hoped. But those burnt weenies were mmm, mmm good!
Presents
Max's gift to Sadie was his "present hunt" that he made up. Sadie found her hidden presents by following his clues, like "Go here when you need to go toot, toot." or "This is where you go when your tummy rumbles." She really felt his excitement for her big day. So sweet.
A new comforter, bed skirt and fleece throw for her bed, a dog picture for her wall, and two new outfits from her favorite store, Justice. Right now, it's all about the SKINNY JEANS with Sadie. She has decided that wide legs are officially "discusting."
(Do you know how freaky it is seeing your daughter wear the styles that you wore when you were the same age?? Freaky. Very freaky.)

Cupcakes
Carrot Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting. Ohhhh Yeah...
Games
We ended the night with some good old-fashioned games like Sherades and Bubble-Gum, Bubble-Gum in a Dish. Pretty typical of a Monday night. But it was different this time because we were celebrating our favorite girl, Sadie Sue.

Sadie felt thoroughly honored and loved this day. Just like any birthday girl should. If only birthdays could be this great her whole life. Enjoy it while it lasts, Sadie. You're only eleven once.
My dream for you is that you will always know how loved you really, truly are. No matter who tells you any different. You will always know that you are a daughter of God, who loves you even more than we do. Seems impossible, but He does. Never ever forget that!
