Love for Nie Nie

There are two blogs that I make time to read, other than my family and friends'. One is that of Cjane (Courtney) who is a new mother (after like 10 years of trying to conceive) from Provo who has the cutest sense of humor and just cracks me up and gives me the smile that I need for the day. She almost quit blogging when her baby was born a few months ago, but felt inspired to keep going with it. You will see why, when you keep reading below.

The other is that of her sister, Nie Nie, (Stephanie) who is a 27-year-old mom of 4 tiny kids and lives in Mesa, AZ. She brings out the beauty in motherhood and life and marriage, everything. She also has a silly sense of humor like her sister and is an excellent writer, which makes her posts entertaining as well as uplifting. Anyway, a very sad tragedy has happened. Stephanie and her husband, Christian were in a private airplane crash on August 15. The other passenger (Christian's flight instructor) died and they are both in critical condition at a burn unit in AZ. Christian's body is 30% burnt and Stephanie's body is 80%. Niether of them even know what has happened yet because they are in medically-induced comas. Like thousands of other readers, I have been glued to Cjane's blog waiting for updates. It's been very touching to see the outpouring of love from around the world that has occured. Courtney has moved Stephanie's kids to Provo, where their extended family lives, and has become an instant mother to her older 3 kids while another sister is taking care of the 2-year-old.

This story has become very big lately! It appeared in the New York Times just today. Amazing how profound an effect one person can have on millions of people, and not even know it. Some day I will thank her for the way she has affected me. I pray for thier recovery and know that, no matter how her looks change on the outside, she will always be an absolutely beautiful person.
