Anniversary Getaway

OK, I've been laying around for 4 days. It's time to get on with life! Now I can post about our trip. Last weekend, Jeremy & I took a 3-day trip to Phoenix to get warm, celebrate our anniversary and RELAX! Besides the fact that we left our kids hacking away with the 'gombu' at Jeremy's parents...everything was blissful! The weather was in the 80's. We took a million pictures, it's hard to choose which ones to include. But here are some of our faves.

We stayed at a beautiful resort in Downtown Scottsdale called the "FireSky Resort." It was like being in Hawaii, minus the ocean and grass skirts. It was a treat for all the senses. It smelled beautiful, you could hear the birds chirping and the waterfalls splashing, you could taste yummy drinks by the pool... It was simply paradise. We spent hours just sitting here reading:


Friday morning we went on a pretty vigorous hike up "Camelback Mountain." It's a little mountain in the middle of Scottsdale that looks like a camel, laying down.


We ate at some incredible restaurants in Downtown Scottsdale. One was called WildFish, where we enjoyed some incredible, you guessed it, fish! Everywhere we ate, we asked for a patio table. There's nothing like being served delicious food out in the nice warm air. Here's my hot man.

On Saturday, we went the the Desert Botanical Gardens. What an incredible place! We were fascinated by how many gorgeous desert plants there are. Our favorite was the butterfly exhibit, which was in a big netted area. We took 200 pictures at this place. It was fun to experiment with the camera settings. It would have been more fun if we had a good lens. Oh well.








For our last night, we went to the Mesa, AZ Temple for a session. It was about a half hour away from where we were staying. Beautiful place! On the way back from the temple we went to a much more "worldly" place called Olive & Ivy, a restaurant in Downtown Scottsdale. It was very dressy and hip. This is THE place to eat in Scottsdale, from what we had heard. It was entertaining watching all the single people mingle around the bar, observing their body language and such. We've never been into the real night life stuff like you see in the movies, so it was fun to experience it one time, minus the alcohol of course :-) Unfortunately, we didn't have our camera there.
