Jeremy had a Landscape Architects trade show that he wanted to go to in Long Beach, California on Presidents Day Weekend. He invited me to come along. Of course, I was all over that! I booked our plane tickets, then a few days later, we decided that we would take Landon along for his senior trip with Mom and Dad, so we added him to the plans.
Landon has been so busy with work (he works at Texas Roadhouse as a cook,) school (he now has to drive 1/2 hour each way every day,) and being the Stage Manager at his high school. We hardly see him! All 3 of us really needed this break and this time to connect. G&G Fillmore were so nice to come and take care of the rest of the crew for two of the days. The last 24 hours, Sadie’s friend, Abbie came down and helped her.
We LOVED leaving winter behind for a few days. This time of year, the cold weather is getting really old! We truly soaked up the upper 70’s weather on the California Coast.
Thursday and Friday, while Jeremy attended his trade show to gather all the info he could about the latest products in landscaping, Landon and I spent some time driving along the PCH, strolling along the ocean shore, walking around the pier at Seal Beach and eating lunch together. Wow, was it ever great to relax and spend this time together.
Friday night, the three of us went to the Long Beach aquarium for a couple of hours, then had dinner downtown.
On Saturday, we took a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. When we got there, we could see that the place was packed because of the holiday weekend. On a whim, Jeremy decided to get us treat us to the V.I.P package, where you are taken on a private tour of the movie sets, a sound studio, and the props building. We never spent more than a couple of minutes in the lines because this pass also let us to the front of all of the lines, including those to the shows. We also were treated to an incredible gourmet lunch. This was a huge splurge for us, but we’re glad we did it because the day was just incredible and we will remember it forever! With Landon being involved in building sets for plays and all the backstage stuff for the past 3 years, this was the perfect way to celebrate his hard work and the end of an era for him.
Only 3 months and our eldest will graduate from High School. This hasn’t sunk in yet…don’t know if it will until a few months after it happens! He’s such a great kid. We couldn’t be more pleased with the young man that he has become! We love our Landon J.
