I was just looking through my pictures from our New Year's Eve party with our college friends and was reminded how truly REAL miracles are.
In early July, our friend, Scott was riding a bike on a highway when he was hit by a truck. His injuries were so severe, doctors allowed Jeremy and all the other people who had come to the U of U hospital that night to go into his room because they were pretty certain that he wasn't going to make it. His pelvis was broken in 5 places, as well as his sacrum, many ribs, his scapula and several vertebrae. He had major internal bleeding that required 140 (!!) units of blood. In the weeks that followed, his liver and kidneys failed, he had a stroke and blood poisoning. He endured 17 surgeries. When he was finally out of the woods, doctors estimated he would be in the hospital about 5 months before returning home.
Sooo many people prayed and fasted for Scott, and he is a living miracle. He left the hospital 2 months and 4 days after the accident!

I took these pictures on New Year's Eve, six months after the accident, as they celebrated LIFE with their Martinelli's. :) Scott is walking without a cane and has suffered no cognitive affects. His main challenge is all the nerve damage that has made it hard to move like he’s used to. But WOW. He’s really, really doing great.
And do you see that cute baby bump? Terri found out she was pregnant just a few weeks after the accident. Scott has the privilege of watching his baby grow up, along his 3 other kiddos. We were reminded how truly precious and valuable life is this past year. We will always be grateful for this miracle.
Here are some more pictures from New Year’s Eve. A little late, but hey it’s been a little crazy around here lately! This New Year’s Eve was a little different because only half of us went. Jeremy stayed home with Anya and Eli (who were sick,) Hazel (who had only been home with us a week) and Landon (who had to work.) It was still so much fun, though. We love the Cabin Crew!
