Measuring Up

Jeremy was in a creative mood Monday night. Thank goodness for his creative moods. I am all out of creative juice by the time I create Sharing Times for primary and art lessons for Max's class at school on a regular basis. I don't know how teachers who are also parents can continually create, create, create.

So he decided that we should build a tower that would be as high as our ceiling fan in the living room. I was a little skeptical (and tired.) But it was actually quite easy. It looks like he's saying "behold the Great Tower" but actually, his hand is there to catch the Duplo blocks that are threatening to tumble. :)
Betcha can't guess who the lesson was about...King Benjamin, of course!

I love this King because of his humility and love for his people and his Heavenly Father. If only all leaders of nations were like him!

Mosiah Chapter 2 from The Book of Mormon:

14 And even I, myself, have labored with mine own hands that I might serve you, and that ye should not be laden with taxes, and there should nothing come upon you which was grievous to be borne--and of all these things which I have spoken, ye yourselves are witnesses this day.
15 Yet, my brethren, I have not done these things that I might boast, neither do I tell these things that thereby I might accuse you; but I tell you these things that ye may know that I can answer a clear conscience before God this day.
16 Behold, I say unto you that because I said unto you that I had spent my days in your service, I do not desire to boast, for I have only been in the service of God.
17 And behold, I tell you these things that you may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

The rest of his sermon is about showing your thanks and love to God. The whole chapter is so inspiring. I'm so glad that seminary students are required to memorize verse 17. It echos in my head many times when opportunities to serve come up. It's usually the little "nudge" that puts me into action. Thanks, King Benjamin!
