The Mission Call!

On September 11, a very important envelope arrived in our mailbox. We had been anxiously waiting it's arrival for a few days, and it was all I could do to keep from tearing into it.

Landon's Mission Call.

We decided he would open it up at our friends' house in our old neighborhood, since that is where all of his friends would be. The more the merrier.

Here is the video of the big moment. It was one of those times you just want to burst. With emotion, joy, pride...you name it.

"Dear Elder Fillmore,
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Philippines,Angeles mission. You will report to the Philippines Missionary Training Center on December 19, 2014."

The Proud Parents
So glad we got video because in all of the excitement, I forgot to take pictures of the people who came. There were about 15-20 friends from the old ward, as well as McKell, her mom and sister and friend.

Landon is SOO excited to serve. He will be in a poor, hot, humid country. But he can't wait to get out there and represent his savior Jesus Christ. This will be two years of his life where he will grow and learn more than he ever has. It's a bitter-sweet time for us as his family because we will miss him terribly. But we wouldn't have it any other way. We love Landon!
